Karen McCann

Karen McCann has performed as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe.  She has served as a vocal coach and pianist for the Taos Opera Institute (Taos, NM), AIMS in Graz (Austria), the CoOPERAtive program (Princeton, NJ), and most recently in July 2015, the Institute for Young Dramatic Voices (Reno, NV) headed by famed mezzo-soprano Dolora Zajick.  Raised in Vancouver, Canada, Karen earned her doctoral degree in Collaborative Piano at Arizona State University.  Karen has had the pleasure of playing in the voice studios of Sharon Sweet, Margaret Cusack, and Luana Devol, among many others, and has performed in masterclasses conducted by Jennifer Larmore, Julianne Baird, and the Tokyo String Quartet.  Her major teachers include Andrew Campbell, Russell Ryan, J.J. Penna, and Dalton Baldwin.  Dr. McCann has served on the faculties of Westminster Choir College, Arizona State University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  She recently relocated to Phoenix, AZ and has enjoyed pursuing her love of the outdoors in the southwest desert.
