Ena Kim is an active musician with emphasis on teaching, recently in Maryland and D.C area. She has more than 10 years teaching experiences in the vaious ages and levels raging from beginners to advanced (above the level of graduate students).Kim’s numerous successes in piano competitions include grand prize at the Piano Korea Pianist Association Competition, the second prize at Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition and at Mu Phi Epsilon Scholarship Competition and the silver medal at the Asia Chopin International Piano Competition. She was also a prize winner in other competitions including the Korea-Germany Brahms Competition, the Korea Newspaper Competition, the Music Education Times Competition, and the Hanjeon Artspool Center Competition. Most recently, she was selected to compete at the esteemed Kingsville International Piano Competition as one of ten semi-finalists.Kim has been invited to perform as a special guest artist at major music festivals in Korea, China, Japan and United States, including William Kapell International Piano Festival, Arts of Piano, Asia International Piano Academy and Festival. She has participated the masterclasses with distinguished pianists like Leon Fleisher, Ann Schein, Nelita True, Awadagin Prrat, Arcadi Zenziper, Kyungsook Lee and Youngho Kim. As a soloist and a chamber musician, Kim also has performed in numerous major concert halls in Korea (Seoul, Cheonan), Japan (Tokyo), China (Shenzhen), and recently in Maryland (Baltimore, Columbia, Silver Spring, College Park, Washington D.C.), United States. She performed in series recitals including Peabody Road Scholar Series, Peabody Exploritas Series, Honors Chamber Music Recitals and she is also expecting to perform in Mu Phi Epsilon International Professional Music Fraternity Benefit Concert. Ena received her BM degree with high honors (Cum Laude) from Ewha Women’s University where she awarded Ewha Scholarships five times. After she moved to the United States, she earned Master’s degree from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University under the tutelage of Brian Ganz. At the Peabody Institute, she has selected as a Peabody Merit- Based Scholarships and Career Development Grants recipient. Also, at the University of Maryland College Park, she is selected to receive Chavey Chase Women’s Club Scholarship, Washington, D.C. Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon Scholarship and The Korean Honor Scholarship sponsored by Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States. Her previous teachers include Mayron Tsong, Brian Ganz, Younglim Ham, Hyewon Chang, Gyehwa Kim and Younghwa Yoon. Currently, Ena is a DMA candidate at University of Maryland College Park and studying with Bradford Gowen.
